Drs. David and Sarah Beckmann - a personal message

When Drs. David and Sarah Beckmann joined the Founders Society they shared this personal message and allowed us to share it with all of you.

Their message was so spot on in describing the mission of the Foundation.  Our hope is that their message will inspire you as well.

"We are thrilled to have recently joined the Founders Society of the Faribault Foundation and to donate to their Hand Up campaign.  We believe it is the best way to give back to this community we know and love. 

You’ve heard the expression, “Shop Local”.  The Faribault Foundation makes it easy to “Give Local”.

Can there be a nicer way to donate philanthropically than to designate one’s community as the recipient?  Thanks to the Foundation, we know that our monetary gifts will be reinvested locally and used for a variety of grants.  In addition to supporting the Foundation now a portion of our funds will grow and continue to support the causes for which we are passionate long into the future, after we are gone.

We moved to Faribault in 1987 with our young family after completing our medical training.  We chose Faribault because of the unique opportunities it offered us to live, work and raise our children in one place.   We want young families to feel that same excitement about settling here, now and in the future.    We hope that children growing up in Faribault choose to make it their home as adults and that those born elsewhere consider it as a destination.  Bettering our community and the lives of the people who live here will allow Faribault to continue to attract skilled workers and professionals, business owners, and people from all walks of life.

 We can be as “hands on” as we wish— in our case, trusting financial and grant decisions to the Foundation’s board.  If we choose to be the sole decision maker on granting our charitable dollars, we can open a donor advised fund.  And these are only some of the options available.  

In the words of the Foundation, “our eye is on high-impact, sustainable philanthropy…helping people who love Faribault make meaningful gifts to the causes they love—today and tomorrow.”  If you have not yet had a chance to be part of this initiative, we encourage you to take a closer look.   It may be just what you are seeking for your charitable giving goals."
